Grain Position Reporting Course – Basic and Intermediate Levels

Previously called the “Grain Position Accounting Course,” this educational program has been rewritten and improved from previous presentations! Learn the basics of managing a grain position and how to accurately record events associated with storing, buying and selling grain. A great refresher course for experienced staff and a wonderful introduction for new employees!

This course in broken down into two classes – Basic (July 19) and Intermediate (July 20)

Included in the Basics Course – July 19
– Grain dealer and warehouse laws
– Long/short position records
– Definitions and position accounting impact of storage obligations and grain accounts payable
The class will also have the opportunity to apply their new skills with case study illustrations for both purchases and sales cycles and learn how to reconcile detail records and lists to the position record. Great information for those new to grain position accounting!
*6 hours of CPE credit available.

Included in the Intermediate Course – July 20
During this program, participants will expand on the concepts and procedures learned in the basic course by introducing definitions and grain position implications of price later and board of trade transactions. New content for this course will include an introduction to hedging, which will cover the following:
– Definition and purpose
– Basic principles
– How and why hedging with futures works
– Costs
– Common tools and strategies
*6 hours of CPE credit available.
